Each week when our challenge comes up I stop and think about how to proceed with the theme. This past year I lost my mother and always find myself still wanting to make gifts for her. This is an album cover I have designed and will be putting pictures in to remember my mother. (That is the stock photo in the window)

It is a very simple design but made me so very happy when it was done.

I used the following dies:

 I started with this plain black album that i didn't know what to do with, I added some Prima paper and cut out the picture window. a great blank pallet to start with.

 I used my favorite flourish and most used die.I like to make many of these when i am cutting and always have them waiting to accent many projects. Can you tell that I shared some of the leaves? Love having dimension with my dies. I made a few different sized roses, some have many layers, some have just a few.

 

I loved how this lace border fit to use around the window and those doilies.

I cut two of the doilies then decided to use only halves-so now I have an extra one for a quick project.One last piece for the corners using the lace corners- just tucked in two corners.

I know this is a quick project but I couldn't be happier with the dies- they all look so elegant and perfect for the cover. Hope to see you join us this week, share with us a Mom project, can't wait to see what you create.

For Mum

Good morning fellow crafters and bloggers, Alison here :) and what sweet entries we have had so far this week in our  'For Mum' challenge.  You still have plenty of time to join in, and you can just link your entry here.

Now I had a blast making this card, as it was really something different for me.  I usually have some kind of image as a focal point on my cards, but seriously these dies are so gorgeous, they can take the limelight all on their own!!  I dont think it looks like its missing anything at all, and it really was effortless to create something that just fell together so well.

I hand stitched my papers and tucked 2 contrasting layers of one of my favourite border dies - the Anastasia border - its so delicate!.   

I cut out 2 hearts in ivory pearl card - the bottom layer is one of the

DL106 - Heart to Heart Lace Doily dies,  and the top heart is the largest of the DL128 - Two of Hearts.  I thought they worked lovely together :)

I then added B117 - Fanciful Flourish, as a base to lay my flowers on which were cut from D137 - Sweet Williams, B149 - Cuties 1 and B150 - Cuties 2.

So glad to be back with a new project today using my Cheery Lynn dies-I find that having so many new products makes me want to use them all.I contained myself and decided a sweet and simple design was a better idea...lol

This design started with the butterfly. I used two different butterflies from Small Angel Wing. Did you know you can make wonderful butterfly shapes by putting these dies on a piece of folded paper? next, I ran these butterflies through my big shot using Burble / Cheese Cloth Texture Embossing Plate. This gave them a great texture perfect for dimension.

I decided to make this mini gift box for a little gift container to house some type of little doo dad.I went to work making flowers to accent each panel,Large Rose ,Medium Rose and Leaf is one of my favorite flower combos and always goes together so quickly... have you seen these dies? I suggest you pick some up for your flower needs.They come in three sizes and I love combining them to make a rose.

See I just added a little filler in the inside and it is ready to be filled with a gift...I think the box is really a gift in itself.  That fun little twine is from really Reasonable ribbon and seemed to work to match the leaves and add a pop of color.

Good Morning everyone, Alison here :)  and back again today delighted to be sharing a card I made for this weeks Cheery Lynn Challenge theme of  'Birthday'.

I admit I was in my element making this sweet little card, I love how delicate and lacy these pretty dies look and they all work so well together.  

This was my first time using one of the gorgeous Reflection Boutique Dies  and was thrilled at the results!  They were so easy to use and enabled me to create customised mats and layers in just the perfect size for my stamped image.  The possibilities are endless, as I only used  the 2 smallest sized  B162 - Horizon Coved Rectangles dies, and you get a total of 6 different sizes in the set!  I loved not being restricted in the sizes you can create, and can see myself  making card bases and matching boxes from these fabby dies too!  :)

Now, I love adding hand-stitching to my projects, so after I had stitched my paper and card panels, I started layering my dies on top. 

The border was created using B160 - Queen Anne's Lace, (which is beautiful!) and the corners were cut from just one of the dies in the  B162 - Lace Corner Deco B set

Playing with all my new supplies I decided that I had to use a  NEW! Reflections Boutique Die 

to make the shape of this card.I just placed on a fold of my card stock and got this Spectacular shape,So love these dies and the size is so amazing! Let me tell you if you want a larger shape that will fit in a regular die cutter (I have a Big Shot)this is the way to go. Can you believe I made a card this size ?

See this is the whole card shape and the inside decorated with the next size down die cut shape.

I used a package of botanical papers I had in my stash from DCWV for this design.

 Look at the beautiful detail of the edge, isn't that amazing? and I used the smallest shape to make a tag for the front of my card, accented with the ferns.

Wanted to share a close up of a small sentiment and stamped butterfly from Unity.That yummy ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon and worked well to pleat and accent the front of my design.

Can you tell I am just so excited to be playing with all these new dies and creating unique pieces that I could have never made without having these dies.

Think Spring

Good Morning fellow crafters and bloggers! :)  What stunning entries we have so far this week for our 'Think Spring' challenge.  Its lovely to just to break out the fresh zingy colours and think of flowers, nature and warmer weather to come.

I had such fun making my card for today as I love nothing better than making my own flowers and swooshing about playing with dies on my layout.   I started off by hand-stitching my backing papers and then layering the gorgeous and versatile B117 - Fanciful Flourish.  and the B133 - Lace Light Deco Border.  These gave me a great base to add additional leaves and flowers to my design later on.

I then layered the DL101 - English Tea Party Doily (which is  soooo beautiful), and added my image.

B155 - Large Rose - these flower dies are so versatile I made daisies with them!

As always, I played about with the placement of the flowers and leaves before sticking any down and I inked the edges of the leaves as I think it adds a great finishing touch.

Let me say that when I got my shipment of dies from Cheery Lynn I couldn't contain my excitement...oh yea I was like a little girl with new toys!

Can you believe these were the only dies I used? lol

I started by using four square pieces of thin chipboard as my base.Just building the basket piece by piece.The papers I used are called Laces and Grace from Glitz Design, all the colors and patterns in my 8 x 8 pad worked well for creating this basket.

I used adhesive backed card stock for my flourishes, made it easy to attach and form around the handle.

I tried to share a few views of the details.My favorite is the window frame on each panel, I love how perfect this frame cuts out and looks.Each panel was given three eyelets and tied together with a clean white ribbon from Really Reasonable ribbon.

Well by now you should know how I love to create using Cheery Lynn dies, they cut perfectly and have such intricate designs they work well with my style.

Baskets Inspiration

Hi Alison here, and I am chuffed to bits to be sharing my first project for the Cheery Lynn Designs Team.  I am so excited!.  This is also my first 'host post' on a DT blog too, so I hope I get it right :)

Now I got quite carried away making spring baskets as they were such fun, and so easy to decorate by using just a few really gorgeous Cheery Lynn dies.  You still have plenty of time to make one in time for our challenge which ends on Sunday.

On this first basket I used: 

B136 - Anastasia Border for both the handle trim and all around the bottom of the basket.
B117 - Fanciful Flourish
D137 - Sweet Williams - A terrific die for making a gorgeous shabby flower!
D134 - Dimensional Small Leaves #2 - I added extra leaves behind the flowers, inked and curled the edges.
B162 - Lace Corner Deco B - Sticking 2 together to make the side decoration - these are so classy looking.

I inked the edges of all the components before sticking them down, as it gives a great finish, and just added some little chocolate eggs to make a lovely gift.

Second Basket:

To decorate this I used:

B133 - Lace Light Deco Border - Again for both the handle trim and the basket decoration.  I used double-sided snow-white pearl card for this, so it looks just as beautiful on both sides.

DL146 - Large Dragonfly w/Angel Wing - These are so delicate and fluttery.  I affixed them to the basket with white brads to stop them flying off ;) lol

B164 - Lace Corner Deco D  &  D133 - Dimensional Small Leaves #1 for the scrunchy flower at the top of the handle.  I love the way these leaves emboss!

Now I actually made 3 baskets for an Easter table display, and to give as gifts for my family, and on the 3rd basket (you can just see tucked behind in the below picture)  I used B149 - Cuties 1 for the border trim (this is a rolling flower die, but very versatile and such a cute border.  DL128 - Two of Hearts for the tag and trim.
