The theme this week at Cheery Lynn Designs is "Celebrate" and with that in mind I want to show you my version of a 3D cupcake that I made.  Best of all the cupcake is fat-free!  How great is that!

As a bonus it opens to add some sweet treats just in case you would like to enjoy a little guilty pleasure! : )

Hi and Good Morning everyone, Alison here today sharing a card inspired by this weeks challenge theme of 'Celebrate'.   What better excuse do you need to create something beautiful for the special people and times in your life.

 

Now, the DT at Cheery Lynn were presented with some wonderful Magnolia goodies recently, and I just couldnt wait to use this little sweetie! :)  I used a 6 x 6 blank card base, and stitched Magnolia papers onto white bazzil cardstock, and then set about my favourite part of card-making - die cutting!

 

I added the Celtic Heart and Fanciful Flourish to the base of the card, and then cut 2 strips of the Anastasia Lace Border layering them together and topping off with some pale blue ribbon.  I cut the really gorgeous Kiwi Spirit Doily (this matches the Anastasia border perfectly) and added my image slightly off centre.  The flowers were made from the Cutie Fringe borders, 2, 3 and 4 and I dipped these in some glitter for a bit of sparkle.   I decorated the border with the Two of Hearts and a butterfly, and I added some tiny forget-me-not type flowers to the flourish.

Is it Spring Yet?

Hi Everyone,

In keeping with our challenge theme this week "Think Spring," I am excited to share a Spring inspired project with you! It's my hope that the more we envision Spring, the faster it will arrive!...lol!

Unfortunately Old Man Winter reared his head again this week blasting us with bitter cold temperatures and another snowstorm. So needless to say I am extremely ready for winter to be over and Spring to begin. They say, "beware the Ides of March" for a reason I guess : )

I was enjoying some time playing with some of the Cheery Lynn flower dies including the leaves from the Frangipani flower and decided to make a Dahlia flower and that is when I got the idea to feature it on these Spring inspired watering cans. I had such a great time making the larger one that I decided to make a matching tiny version as well : )

For the tiny watering can, I used Lady Kate Edger as the trim as well as the Daisy Strip die for the larger flower and I die cut some sweet little Darling Daisies to place inside the can. Of course, I could not resist adding some nature as well. You can find the sweet little ladybugs, bubble bees,dragonflies and even a butterfly all packaged as a set when you purchase Tiny Things with Wings.

Where's Spring?

 

Hi and Good Morning :)  Alison here today.  Wow! we had some fab entries and yummy creations last week for our Easter Challenge, and this week we are trying to get in the mood for Spring!   I really wanted to make something bright, light and warm as we still have snow here in Scotland, and its fffffreezing! 

 

I used a 6 x 6 white card blank, and stitched Prima Papers onto white American Crafts cardstock.  This same card, and aqua blue bazzil card was used for all the dies on this card, and they came out beautifully. :)

 

I cut the gorgeous Dainty Dutch Deco frame (I love this!) and added fanciful flourish and mini flourish die-cuts, before adding a cute Penny Black image matted onto Scalloped and Square stackers.  I then layered the victorian picket fence on top, and cut out some stunning daisies in various sizes from the daisy strip die - this is such a timesaver!  I layered the daisies and held them together with a brad and then use card-candi over the top to soften the look.  I finally added some smaller daisies, leaves, butterflies, dragonfly and  tag, and finished the look off with some pearls and twine.

Easter Basket

Hi Everyone,  well, the weekend is almost upon us!  TGIF!  It's hard to believe Easter is almost upon us as well.

With Easter fast approaching I thought I would share a fun little Easter basket with you using your Cheery Lynn Dies!

They are just so much fun and easy to create and you can put your own personal flair on it.

To make this basket all you need is 12 cuts from the Nesting Eggs and a 6 sided Polygon for the base.

First cut 12 of whatever size die you want, I used the largest one and score them at 1 inch across the bottom.

Next attach 1 layer of the dies to the Polygon on all sides

I used a second smaller die with some DP to add some flair to the basket

Once you have the first layer completed, with the basket face down simply start to glue the second layer of die cuts in so that they are evenly spaced between the layers, then decorate as desired.

Easter Chic

 

Good Morning fellow crafters and bloggers, Alison here today sharing a card made for this weeks challenge theme of 'Easter'.  :)  As always the lucky winner will receive $20 to spend on the Cheery Lynn Website, so well worth joining in!

 

Now, I have been wanting to use my Lace Egg die for ages, so really enjoyed making this sweet card in layers of chocolate and cream cardstock.  I stitched MME papers onto rich brown bazzil card and sanded and distressed around the edges.  I used the gorgeous Polynesian Sails die to mat and frame my image, and cut 3 easter eggs from contrasting card and paper and decorated with pearls.  I added 2 delicate butterflies from the Tiny Things with Wings set, and finished off with 'Happy Easter' from the brilliant mix and match range of sentiment dies.

Doilies Elegant Fancy Fold w/Tutorial

Hi Everyone, I hope you've been having a wonderful week!

For today's project I wanted to share an Elegant Fancy Fold card with you.

I chose to create this fun fold with lots of layers using Cheery Lynn's Circle Doily stacker set. This worked right in with our challenge theme this week!

Here is a photo of how it looks when open:

And here's how you can create this fold:

1. Cut your cardstock 7" x 11 ¾ "
2. With the 11 ¾ " side at the top of your Scor-Pal score lines at the 3 ¼, 5, 6 ¾ and 8 ½ inch marks
3. To make the curved sides, take a 6 ½ inch circle cut in half and fussy cut the base card stock just a little bigger.
4. Cut the large Doily 2 more times and cut 1 in half to place on the sides.
5. Cut a smaller doily for the center of the card and vertical strips to decorate the center, if desired.

A Sweet Surprise!

Hi and Good Morning Everyone, Alison here :) and back again today to share a card I made inspired by this weeks Cheery Lynn Challenge theme of  'Doilies'.

Cheery Lynn make the most amazing doily dies!  There are so many to choose from, all with a really different feel from traditional to fantasy, and all gorgeously intricate.

My card uses a 6 x 6 inch scalloped card base, and I layered some freebie papers onto white American Crafts cardstock and coloured a cute Mo Manning image to match.  I used the classic French Pastry Doily die, and added a strip from the Mesh Border die chopped down to size to make it narrower, and edged at the top with a strip from the Expandable Tiny Border dies.  The bottom part of the mesh strip is finished off with some red gingham ribbon and the Lady Kate Edger border tucked underneath to make a sweet frilly panel.

The flowers were so quick and simple using the Daisy Strip and look really bright topped off with red card candi.  The digi-sentiment was cut out with one of the lovely sentiment frames and I added a couple of red brads, pearls and a charm to finish.

The Graceful Gardenia

Hi Everyone and Happy Friday to you!

For today's inspiration, I wanted to share with a you a Gardenia Flower I created using my Build a Flower #3 dies.

There are so many flowers you can create using your Build a Flower dies, the possibilities are truly endless! The Gardenia flower is one of my favorites, I think it might have something to do with it's presence being so tranquil and elegant. I decided that such a lovely flower deserved a home worthy of it's beauty so thought I would use it to decorate this pretty bird-cage.

I wanted to include a bird in my birdcage so here he is protecting his beautiful Gardenias. Just in case you are wondering, I picked up this cute little bird at my local Dollar Store. As well, since the Gardenia has waxy type leaves so I used glossy accents to give them that wet/waxy look. This was the first time I tried this technique and will use it again, the leaves look real.
